The Little Kanawha River divides the north and south sides of the city, which anchors the Parkersburg-Vienna metropolitan area. Blennerhassett Island in the Ohio River just below the city, the 1798 estate of Harman Blennerhassett that became linked to the Burr Conspiracy and is now a state park.
