Helena Valley West Central is an unincorporated census-designated place in the Helena Valley of southern Lewis and Clark County, about five miles north of downtown Helena.
It covers roughly 26.4 square miles, is bordered on the east by Interstate 15, and has no municipal government of its own. An unincorporated suburban section of the Helena Valley directly north of Helena, known locally for the Scratchgravel Hills public land on its western edge. The area has never been incorporated. It exists as a census-designated place, a statistical boundary the U.S. Census Bureau draws for unincorporated communities, so it has no founding, incorporation or naming date. 2020 census: 77.9 percent of residents were counted in urban areas and 22.1 percent in rural areas. 2020 census: 8,670 residents across 26.39 square miles of land, a density of about 328.5 people per square mile, with a median age of 42.2 years.
