How did Noblesville come to be?
Notable events include the Great Flood of 1913 and a 1919 interurban wreck on the courthouse square. In 1925 the D.C. Stephenson trial, held in Noblesville, helped break the power of the Ku Klux Klan in Indiana. The Indiana gas boom, sparked by the 1888 discovery of natural gas near 11th and Pleasant streets, funded many Victorian homes and the downtown commercial district.
