Cold Spring is a village in the Town of Philipstown, Putnam County, on the east bank of the Hudson River directly across from West Point.
Its compact 19th-century Main Street runs downhill from the Metro-North Hudson Line station to the riverfront. The West Point Foundry, which made Parrott rifle cannon for the Union Army and whose ruins are now a public preserve at the edge of the village. 1955-1956: Boscobel was moved about 15 miles upriver to Garrison, just south of the village, to save it from demolition. 1846: The village was incorporated, with Joshua Haight as its first president.
